Solve : 3x - (x - 2)/3 = 4 - (x - 1)/4
Solution:
Given, the equation is 3x - (x - 2)/3 = 4 - (x - 1)/4
We have to solve the equation
On solving the equation for x,
3x - (x - 2)/3 = 4 - (x - 1)/4
3x - x/3 + 2/3 = 4 - x/4 + 1/4
By grouping of common terms,
x(3 - 1/3) + 2/3 = 4 + 1/4 - x/4
8x/3 + 2/3 = 17/4 - x/4
By transposing,
8x/3 + x/4 = 17/4 - 2/3
(32x + 3x)/12 = (51 - 8)/12
35x/12 = 43/12
35x = 43
x = 43/35
Therefore, the value of x is 43/35
✦ Try This: Solve : x - (3x - 4)/5 = 6 - (x - 11)/7
