Rationalise the denominator of the following: (3+√2) / 4√2
Solution:
Given, the expression is 3+√2 / 4√2
We have to rationalise the denominator.
To rationalise we have to take conjugate,
3+√2 / 4√2 = (3+√2)/4√2 × 4√2/4√2
= (3+√2)4√2/16(2)
= (12√2 + 4(2))/32
= (12√2+8)/32
= 4(3√2+2)/32
= (3√2+2)/8
Therefore, (3+√2) / 4√2 = (3√2+2)/8
✦ Try This: Rationalise the denominator of the following: (4√2+3√2) / √2
