Pizza factory has come out with two kinds of pizzas. A square pizza of side 45 cm costs ₹150 and a circular pizza of diameter 50 cm costs ₹160 (Fig. 9.36). Which pizza is a better deal?
Solution:
Given, the pizza factory has come out with two kinds of pizzas.
A square pizza of side 45 cm costs ₹150
A circular pizza of diameter 50 cm costs ₹160
We have to determine which pizza is a better deal.
Area of square = (side)²
Area of square pizza = (45)²
= 2025 cm²
Amount in Rs. 1 square pizza = 2025/150
= 13.5 cm² ------------------ (1)
Area of circle = πr²
Given, diameter of pizza = 50 cm
Radius = 50/2 = 25 cm
Area of circular pizza = 22/7 × (25)²
= 22(625)/7
= 13750/7
= 1964.29 cm²
Amount in Rs. 1 circular pizza = 1964.29/160
= 12.27 cm²---------------------- (2)
From (1) and (2),
We observe that square pizza is a better deal.
Therefore, square pizza is a better deal.
