People of Khejadli village take good care of plants, trees and animals. They say that plants and animals can survive without us, but we can not survive without them. Inspired by her elders Amrita marked some land for her pets (camel and ox) and plants. Find the ratio of the areas kept for animals and plants to the living area.
Solution:
People of Khejadli village take good care of plants, trees and animals.
They say that plants and animals can survive without us, but we can not survive without them.
Amrita has marked some land for her pets and plants.
We have to find the ratio of the areas kept for animals and plants to the living area.
Area of rectangle = length × breadth
Area of total rectangular land = 15 × 10
= 150 m²
Area marked for camel = 5 × 3
= 15 m²
Area marked for plants = 9 × 1
= 9 m²
Area of circle = πr²
Where, r is the radius of the circle
Given, diameter = 2.8 m
Radius = 2.8/2 = 1.4 m
Area marked for ox = π(1.4)²
= 22/7 × 1.4 × 1.4
= 22 × 0.2 × 1.4
= 4.4 × 1.4
= 6.16 m²
Total area covered by plants and animals = 15 + 9 + 6.16
= 30.16 m²
Living area = total land area - area covered by plants and animals
= 150 - 30.16
= 119.84 m²
Ratio of the areas kept for animals and plants to the living area = 30.16 : 119.84
= 3016 : 11984
= 377 : 1498
Therefore, the required ratio is 377 : 1498
✦ Try This: A 80 m by 64 m rectangular lawn has two roads, each 5 m wide, running through its middle, one parallel to its length and the other parallel to its breadth. Find the cost of gravelling the reads at ₹ 40 per m².
