NCERT Solutions Class 12 Maths Chapter 9 Exercise 9.3 Differential Equations
NCERT solutions class 12 maths chapter 9 exercise 9.3 differential equations shows how to find the differential equation to represent a family of curves. The procedure to do so is given below.
Case 1:
- If the given family F1 of curves depends on only one parameter then it is represented by an equation of the form F1 (x, y, a) = 0.
- This equation is differentiated with respect to x and a is eliminated from the equations to get the required differential equation of form F(x, y, y′) = 0.
Case 2:
- If the given family F2 of curves depends on the parameters a, b then it is represented by an equation of the from F2 (x, y, a, b) = 0.
- We differentiate this to get an equation of the form g (x, y, y′, a, b) = 0. As we cannot use one equation to eliminate both a and b we need to differentiate this further to get h (x, y, y′, y″, a, b) = 0.
- Finally using these two we get the required differential equations as F (x, y, y′, y″) = 0.
NCERT solutions class 12 maths chapter 9 exercise 9.3 adeptly conveys knowledge of using the above steps to find the required differential equation.
