Lipika reads a book for \(1{\Large\frac{3}{4}}\) hours everyday. She reads the entire book in 6 days. How many hours in all were required by her to read the book?
Solution:
Number of hours taken by Lipika to read a book everyday = \(1{\Large\frac{3}{4}}\) = 7/4
Number of days taken to read the entire book = 6
Total number of hours required by her to read the complete book = (7/4) × 6
= 42/4
= 21/2
= \(10{\Large\frac{1}{2}}\) (reduced to simplest form)
Thus, \(10{\Large\frac{1}{2}}\) hours were required by Lipika to read the complete book.
