In Fig. 9.35, find the area of parallelogram ABCD if the area of the shaded triangle is 9 cm².
Solution:
Given, area of the shaded triangle is 9 cm²
We have to find the area of the parallelogram ABCD.
Area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height
9 = 1/2 × 3 × h
9(2) = 3 × h
h = 9(2)/3
= 3(2)
h = 6 cm
Area of parallelogram = base × corresponding height
= BE × h
= (3 + 4) × 6
= 7(6)
= 42 cm²
Therefore, the area of parallelogram is 42 cm².
