Solution:

Let the quantity of rice be x kg

Then the quantity of wheat be 4x kg

The linear equation formed is

x + 4x = 80

5x = 80

x = 80/5

x = 16

Hence, 4x = 64

Thus, the quantities of rice and wheat consumed in the family are 16 kg and 64 kg respectively.
