If two supplementary angles are in the ratio 1 : 2, then the bigger angle is
a. 120°
b. 125°
c. 110°
d. 90°
Solution:
Given, two supplementary angles in the ratio 1 : 2.
We need to find the bigger angle.
Let the angle be x
Since the ratio is 1 : 2
Other angle = 2x.
When the sum of the measures of two angles is 180°, the angles are called supplementary angles.
So, x + 2x = 180°
3x = 180°
x = 180°/3
x = 60°
Other angle = 2(60°)
= 120°
Therefore, the bigger angle is 120°
