How many faces does each of the following solids have?
(a) Tetrahedron
(b) Hexahedron
(c) Octagonal Pyramid
(d) Octahedron
Solution:
We have to find the number of faces in each of the given solids.
(a) Tetrahedron
A tetrahedron is a polyhedron with 4 faces, 6 edges, and 4 vertices, in which all the faces are triangles.
(b) Hexahedron
A hexahedron is a polyhedron with six faces.
(c) Octagonal Pyramid
An octagonal pyramid has 9 vertices, 9 faces, and 16 edges.
(d) Octahedron
An octahedron is a polyhedron with 8 faces, 12 edges, and 6 vertices and at each vertex 4 edges meet.
Therefore, the required number of faces of each of the given solids are 4, 6, 9 and 8.
