We have to find the value of x.

We know that the angles on either side of the base of a trapezium are supplementary.

So, (x - 20)° + (x + 40)° = 180°

x + x - 20° + 40° = 180°

2x + 20° = 180°

2x = 180° - 20°

2x = 160°

x = 160°/2

Therefore, x = 80°
