Find the domain of the function f (x) = (x2 + 2x + 1) / (x2 - 8x + 12)
Solution:
In mathematics,
a function means a correspondence from one value x of the first set to another value y of the second set.
The given function is
f (x) = (x2 + 2x + 1) / (x2 - 8x + 12)
On factorising the denominator, we got x = 6 and x = 2.
It can be seen that the function f is defined for all real numbers except at x = 6 and x = 2.
Hence,
the domain of the function f is a set of real numbers except 6 and 2.
i.e., R - {2, 6}
NCERT Solutions Class 11 Maths Chapter 2 Exercise ME Question 3
Find the domain of the function f (x) = (x2 + 2x + 1)/(x2 - 8x + 12)
Summary:
A function f (x) = (x2 + 2x + 1) / (x2 - 8x + 12) is given. We have found that the domain of the function f is a set of real numbers except 6 and 2. i.e., R - {2, 6}
