Babita bought 160 kg of mangoes at Rs 48 per kg. She sold 70% of the mangoes at Rs 70 per kg and the remaining mangoes at Rs 40 per kg. Find Babita’s gain or loss per cent on the whole dealing
Solution:
Babita sold 70% of 160 kgs at Rs 70/kg
70% of 160 kg = 112 kg
Amount received by selling 112 kg of mangoes @ Rs. 70/kg
= 112 × 70
= Rs.7840
The remaining amount of mangoes i.e. 48 kg @ Rs 40/kg
Amount received by selling the remaining 48 kgs @ Rs. 40/kg
= 48 kg × Rs. 40/kg
= Rs. 1920
Total Amount received by selling 160 Kg
= Rs. 7840 + Rs. 1920
= Rs. 9760
Babita bought 160 kg @ 48 per kg and hence the total cost incurred is:
Cost of 160 Kg of mangoes = Rs. 160 × 48
= Rs. 7680
Profit made by Babita by selling 160 Kg of mangoes
= 9760 - 7680
= Rs. 2080
Profit or Gain % = (2080/7680) × 100
= 27.08%
≅ 27%
