(a) Why does it make sense to connect the points in this situation?
(b) Describe the overall trend, or pattern, in the way the temperature changes over the time period shown on the graph.
(c) Estimate the temperature at noon and 8 pm.

Solution:

(a) By connecting the points we can then find the temperature at different times of the day even if the temperature has not been recorded for that moment.

(b)The above graph reveals that the temperature increases gradually till 12 noon. The temperature then remains constant till 2:00 pm and then it gradually decreases.

(c) The temperature is approximately 21ᵒC and 9ᵒC at 8:00 pm.
