Solution:

Amount paid by Arun to buy skates is ₹ 1,600

Let the Marked price of a pair of skates be x

Discount percentage is 20%

Therefore, M.P. of skates - Discount = 1600 ------ (1)

where, Discount = Discount% × M.P.

Discount = 20% of x ------- (2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

x - 20% × (x) = 1600

x - (20x/100) = 1600

(80x/100) = 1600

x = 1600 × (100/80)

x = 2000

Marked price = ₹ 2000
