A table-top measures 2 m by 1 m 50 cm. What is its area in square metres?
Solution:
We will be using the area of rectangle formula (length × breadth) for finding the area of the table-top.
From the given data we have,
l = 2m
b = 1m 50 cm
= 1m + 0.5 m
= 1.50 m
As we know that, Area of a rectangle = length(l) × breadth(b)
Area = l × b
= 2 × 1.50
= 3 m2
Therefore, the area of the table-top is 3 square metres.
