A circular park is surrounded by a road 21 m wide. If the radius of the park is 105 m, find the area of the road
Solution:
Given, a circular park is surrounded by a road 21 m wide.
Radius of the park, r = 105 m
We have to find the area of the road.
Park is surrounded by a road of width 21 m.
Radius of outer circle = 105 + 21 = 126 m
Area of the road = area of outer circle - area of inner circle
Area of circle = πr²
Area of circle with radius 105 m = (22/7)(105)²
= (22)(15)(105)
= 34650 m²
Area of circle with radius 126 m = (22/7)(126)²
= (22)(18)(126)
= 49896 m²
Area of road = 49896 - 34650
= 15246 m²
Therefore, the area of the road is 15246 m²
✦ Try This: A circular park is surrounded by a road 10 m wide. If the radius of the park is 25 m, find the area of the road.
