A bag contains 10 red, 5 blue and 7 green balls. A ball is drawn at random. Find the probability of this ball being a red ball
Solution:
Given, a bag contains 10 red, 5 blue and 7 green balls.
A ball is drawn at random.
We have to find the probability of getting a red ball.
Possible outcomes = 10 red ball + 5 blue ball + 7 green ball
Total number of possible outcomes = 10 + 5 + 7 = 22
The probability of getting a red ball is given by
There are 10 red balls in a bag
Number of favourable outcome = 10
Number of possible outcomes = 22
Probability = number of favourable outcomes / number of possible outcomes
Probability = 10/22
= 5/11
Therefore, the probability of getting a red ball is 5/11.
